Peoria, AZ – UPDATE: Elizabeth Simpson, Jace Hochstetler, Two Children Killed in Crash on 107th Ave near Lone Cactus Dr

Peoria, AZ (November 30, 2022) – As previously reported, a fatal car accident took the lives of two parents and their 14-year-old daughter on November 20. Three other children were also involved and injured in the collision. Their teenage daughter was put on life support at the hospital due to the severity of the injuries she sustained in the accident but later lost her life.

At around 9:00 p.m., the incident was reported to officials in Peoria, who promptly responded to the scene. Reports indicate that a Mazda van, driven by Elizabeth Simpson of Glendale, age 36, accompanied by her fiance, Jace Hochstetler of Phoenix, age 31, and their four children, was headed south on 107th Avenue when it collided with another van that was turning left off of Lone Cactus Drive, south of Deer Valley Road.

Simpson and Hochstetler died at the scene, while the four children were transported to a local hospital. Simpson’s daughter, Harley, later succumbed to her injuries. Two other children at the hospital, including a baby and a 10-year-old boy, are still being treated for injuries, though the baby is said to be OK.

A second child has succumbed to her injuries, according to reports provided by friends of the family. Authorities are working to determine whether the driver of the second vehicle was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victims at this time.

Phoenix, AZ – Karina Luna, 21, Killed in Car Crash on Ralson Rd near Fanner Dr

Phoenix, AZ (November 29, 2022) – On Sunday evening, November 27, a fatal accident took the life of one woman in Pinal County. Sheriff’s Office deputies reported that an impaired driver caused the multi-vehicle accident that happened in the Ak-Chin Indian Community.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., deputies responded to the three-car collision near Ralson Road and Fanner Drive. Reports show that 19-year-old Chelsea Edwards was traveling south in a Chrysler 300 on Ralston Road when she rear-ended a Ford F-150. The force of the impact pushed the Ford into oncoming traffic, where it slammed into a Dodge Ram headed north.

The Ford’s driver, identified as Karina Luna, 21, was ejected from the truck. She lost her life at the scene, sources said.

First responders who were called to the scene rescued a man who ended up trapped inside his vehicle with a head injury due to the collision. Fire Personnel in Ak-Chin reported that the woman in the Chrysler 300 was possibly intoxicated.

Deputies reported that Edwards smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot, watery eyes. She reported traveling about 80 miles per hour when she rear-ended the Ford F-150. The speed limit in the area was 45 mph.

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of Karina Luna. We hope for the full recovery of the injured victim.

No further information has been reported at this time.

DUI Accidents in Arizona

In Arizona, alcohol-related collisions accounted for almost 4% of all accidents and an alarming 31% of all fatal accidents in 2017. If you or a loved one become involved in a car crash caused by an intoxicated driver, you possess the right to file a personal injury or wrongful death claim. The claim is different from the criminal case that will most likely be pursued by a prosecutor in Arizona against the drunk or high driver.

Intoxicated driving causes hundreds of car crashes in Arizona each year. Some of these crashes end up taking the lives of the people involved. Filing a claim for compensation is your legal right if you or a loved one of yours has sustained injuries in a negligently caused accident. Driver intoxication is one of the most dangerous forms of driver negligence that exists today. Some statistics concerning drunk driving in the United States are:

  • One in three Americans will become involved in a drunk driving crash
  • In the US, someone sustains injuries due to the actions of a drunk driver every minute
  • Every 50 minutes, someone loses their life due to the actions of a drunk driver
  • The average individual has engaged in drunk driving about 80 times before they are caught by police

When you retain a lawyer from the law offices of Samuel P. Moeller, PLLC, to represent you, we will put forth a comprehensive legal effort to determine the cause of the crash and the full extent of the damages you have endured.

Our car accident attorneys in Phoenix will calculate the complete value of your damages and seek full and fair financial compensation on your behalf.
