Traffic Collisions in Arizona

When you choose to get behind the wheel of a vehicle, while you’re driving, there is a constant risk that you may become involved in an accident. On average, about 3 million people are hurt in car accidents per year in the United States. In Arizona, more than 160,000 car accidents happen per year that injure approximately 55,000 people. The majority of these accidents are the result of negligent drivers. In America, on average, about 6 million car crashes happen yearly. About 90 people lose their lives per day in these collisions.

The CDC reports that an auto accident resulting in an emergency room visit can cost approximately $4,000. Alarmingly, over 90% of the car wrecks reported in the United States are the result of driver negligence. The top causes of auto collisions in the United States include:

    • Reckless driving: Reckless motorists are dangerous and unpredictable. Failing to use a turn signal, cutting people off, ignoring traffic signals, driving at unsafe speeds, and cutting people off are examples of reckless driving.
    • Speeding: Feeling rushed while you’re driving is understandable, especially if you are running late. However, driving at unsafe speeds is extremely unsafe and can result in serious injuries or death.
    • Distracted driving: It is easy to feel pressured to answer a phone call or text while you’re driving. However, this behavior is extremely hazardous and results in millions of injuries and thousands of deaths every year. Distracted driving is the most common cause of auto accidents in the United States.
