Phoenix, AZ (December 21, 2022) – A car crash happened in Phoenix on the morning of December 20 that required an emergency dispatch. At around 3:15 a.m., an SUV and a pickup truck crashed at an intersection and caused injuries.
The major intersection, identified as 67th Avenue and McDowell Road, was shut down following the two-car accident early Tuesday morning. Authorities believe the wreck occurred due to impaired drivers.
The incident occurred when one vehicle collided with the rear of another. Video footage from the scene shows the SUV with heavy front-end damage and the pickup truck with heavy damage to its bed.
Both drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities suspect both drivers may have been intoxicated.
The investigation closed 67th Ave from McDowell to I-10. Traffic was backed up while crews were present. Authorities are still working to determine the exact cause of the incident.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims. We hope for their full recovery.
Arizona Car Accidents
In Arizona, car accidents frequently take place thousands of times per year.
