Arizona Auto Accidents

Driving a vehicle comes with an imminent risk that you could be involved in a crash. The majority of the car accidents that happen in the  United States are caused by driver negligence, according to information provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Roughly 4 out of 5 car accidents in the United States are the result of the actions of a negligent driver. Driver negligence causes more car accidents than inclement weather and vehicle malfunctions combined.

Things like driver distraction, intoxication, and distraction lead to millions of vehicle accidents every single year. These accidents injure and take the lives of thousands of people. In Arizona, currently, the leading cause of auto accidents is distracted driving. Distracted driving causes approximately 10% of all auto accidents in the United States. Though it may seem harmless to check your phone for a second while behind the wheel, it is actually extremely careless, reckless, and dangerous.

The death rate related to auto collisions in the United States is 12.4 deaths per 100,000 individuals. This is equal to approximately double the fatality rate for other developed countries. Approximately two million drivers sustain injuries that lead to permanent disabilities every year. Additionally, approximately 4.4 million people will suffer injuries so severe they end up in the hospital. These collisions cause the United States approximately 8 billion dollars a year.

The top ten causes of car accidents in the United States are currently:

  • Distracted driving: More than 1,000 people are injured in distracted-driving-related incidents per day in the United States.
  • Running red lights: Red light runners almost always end up in a car accident with drivers coming from opposing directions.
  • Speeding: Speeding has contributed to at least 25% of all car crashes in the US since 2009.
  • Reckless driving: Tailgating, ignoring traffic signals, and erratically changing speeds are all extremely hazardous and are sure ways to cause a wreck.

If you have been hurt by a negligent driver, you deserve compensation for your injuries and losses. A Phoenix car accident lawyer can help you file a claim for compensation so you can cover the costs related to your accident. The CDC reports that a traffic crash resulting in an ER visit costs almost $4,000. The cost of hospitalization for these injuries is more than $56,000.
