Arizona Auto Collisions
When you get in a car to drive, there is an imminent risk of an accident occurring, no matter how safe you are. Every year, over 6 million car crashes are reported in the United States that cause injuries to more than 3 million people. The fact of the matter is, most of these wrecks are caused by driver negligence. The main types of driver negligence in the United States are speeding, drowsy driving, intoxication, and distraction.
In Arizona, more than 125,000 vehicle collisions are reported per year. These collisions usually cause injuries to more than 55,000 people annually and end the lives of more than 1,000. Right now, the leading cause of auto collisions in the Grand Canyon State is currently speeding. Across the US, around 31% of fatal auto crashes can be attributed to speeding drivers. This is equal to about 11,000 people who lose their lives yearly due to drivers who choose to drive at speeds that exceed the legal limit.
The fatality rate stemming from car crashes in the United States is about double the average fatality rate of other developed nations. About two million people will sustain permanent disabilities due to injuries they sustained in auto accidents in the United States each year. Approximately 4.4 million people are injured so severely that they are required to spend time in the hospital recovering each year. The societal and economic impact of car crashes in the United States is around 8 billion dollars every year. The alarming fact is that more than 90% of these wrecks happen due to the negligent acts of drivers.
