Phoenix, AZ (June 8, 2022) – On June 7th at around 4:30 a.m., a female pedestrian was critically injured in a pedestrian collision in Phoenix. The involved driver fled the scene, according to reports.
Initial information reveals that the hit-and-run collision happened on 51st Street near Camelback Road. Police and other responders were seen assisting at the crash scene just before 5:00 a.m.
A woman was struck by a dark-colored SUV, sources said. The driver who hit her drove away without stopping to render aid. Emergency crews rushed the victim to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
51st Avenue was closed from Campbell Avenue to Camelback Road while the investigation was taking place. The name of the victim has not been released.
Authorities in Phoenix continue to investigate.
