Ponderosa, AZ (November 3, 2022) – A car accident happened between 17 vehicles in Flagstaff on November 3. Three people were sent to the hospital following the accident.
The incident occurred on I-140 near milepost 175, according to information from the Arizona Department of Public Safety. At least two semi-trucks were involved in the crash.
A vehicle spun out in the westbound lanes and struck a guardrail before it then hit another car and caused the pileup to occur. Several injuries were reported, Ponderosa fire officials said.
Eastbound lanes of I-40 were closed east of Williams at milepost 175 in the vicinity of Parks Road. The names of those involved have not been reported at this time.
We hope for the full recovery of those with injuries. Police in Ponderosa continue to investigate.
Arizona Truck Wrecks
Thousands of people are hurt in Arizona car crashes each year. When trucks become involved in these collisions, the chances of those involved suffering severe and even fatally injuries dramatically increases.
There are many different reasons a truck crash could happen in the state of Arizona. One of the most frequently seen is speeding. Truckers are usually under a lot of pressure to meet strict deadlines, and, therefore, may feel forced to exceed the speed limit so as to deliver their loads on time. This can create dangerous circumstances on the road.
Another prevalent cause of truck accidents in Arizona is fatigued driving. Due to the fact that truck drivers usually work long hours without enough sleep, they may become drowsy or even fall asleep while behind the wheel. This, too, is extremely dangerous and puts everyone on the road with them at risk.
Driver distraction is another common reason Arizona truck wrecks happen. Truckers may be distracted by their GPS, cell phones, or other items or devices inside their trucks. This can divert their attention from the road and greatly increase the chances of an accident occurring.
Impairment is, unfortunately, a leading cause of truck collisions in Arizona and throughout the US. Due to having to work long hours with no sleep, truckers may turn to drugs and/or alcohol to try and get them through their shifts. This is extremely dangerous and puts their lives and everyone else’s on the road in danger. If you see a truck driver who appears to be impaired, report them to the authorities.
