Glendale, AZ (July 06, 2022) – A man in his 60s is receiving treatment at a hospital after a late-night fire at his home in Glendale on Monday, July 4th.
Fire crews from Peoria and Glendale were dispatched to the home located on West Adobe Drive in the area of Beardsley Road and 83rd Avenue at about 12:00 a.m.
When they arrived, they noticed that a portion of the home was on fire and that a resident had sustained burns to his face and airway. He was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Investigators think the fire began in the garage and spread to the house as well as a car in the driveway. They have said that fireworks are not thought to be the cause.
Another resident was home when the fire started but was able to escape unharmed.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Burn Injuries in Arizona
Burn accidents are often caused by innocuous household items and situations that are present every single day, such as:
- Flame burns: Motor vehicle accidents, structure fires, grills, gas stoves
- Chemical burns: Industrial chemicals, bleach, acid, cleaning supplies, chlorine
- Steam/Scald burns: Cooking accidents, ironing accidents, industrial appliances
- Electrical burns: Faulty wiring, improperly handled appliances
Some injuries are physically hidden; the victim knows that it’s there but it is invisible to the rest of the world. Burn injuries, however, are quite different. The scars they usually leave on their victims are not only traumatic but extremely visible. From facial burns that make it almost impossible to talk or smile to permanent scarring on your extremities, the damage caused by a burn injury is obvious to everyone.
While no amount of restitution can even the score for a lifetime of insecurity and explanations, signing with the right Arizona personal injury firm can make a world of difference.
Some common secondary injuries caused by burns include:
- Permanent scarring
- Disfigurement
- Emotional trauma such as anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder
One of the biggest factors that set burn injuries apart from many other forms of injury is the amount of undue pain and suffering they cause. Dissimilar to other injuries, the pain from a burn is directly proportional to the wound’s healing.
To make matters worse, pain arising from a significant burn injury might not go away entirely, even after months or years of recovery. No one can predict just how much suffering and pain a burn injury will bring. That is why having a practiced burn injury lawyer on your side plays an essential role in helping you get your life back to the way it was before your accident.
