Phoenix, AZ (December 5, 2022) – Three people were killed, and one man is fighting for his life in the hospital after a severe two-car crash late Saturday, December 3, in Phoenix. Authorities arrived at the intersection of Thomas Road and 59th Avenue at around 10:14 p.m. to find a pick-up truck on fire.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze. Preliminary investigations found three individuals trapped inside the truck who had lost their lives.
Inside the second vehicle, two men were found. They were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. One man had life-threatening injuries, while the other sustained minor injuries. Phoenix police say that the vehicle occupied by two men was headed east on Thomas Road when it rear-ended the pickup truck.
A witness attempted to extinguish the fire before officials arrived but were unsuccessful. Footage from a nearby ring camera shows a sedan pulling out just before striking the pickup truck, which immediately burst into flames.
No one involved has been identified at this time. The two men in the sedan are currently in the hospital.
Police in Phoenix continue to investigate what led up to the accident.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the families of the deceased victims. We hope for the full recovery of those with injuries.
